This initiative is designed to reduce food waste and support our school-wide sustainability efforts while encouraging students to share responsibly.
What is a Food Share Table?
A Share Table is a designated area in the cafeteria where students can place unopened, sealed, or uneaten items that they choose not to eat. Other students may then take these items if they would like an extra snack or forgot part of their lunch.
How It Works:
- Only sealed, packaged, or whole fresh items (like fruit) are allowed.
- Items will be kept safe and fresh using ice packs placed under the trays.
- Students can place or take items from the table during lunch or as they leave the cafeteria.
How You Can Help:
- Encourage your child to place unused, unopened food on the Share Table instead of throwing it away.
- Remind them that they are welcome to take an item if they’re still hungry or missed something in their lunch.
- Help reinforce that this initiative is about sharing, caring, and reducing waste.
