Seating Tips for Distant Learning
Chair too big does not allow for proper seating posture. Pillow placed behind back stool for foot support allows for 90/90/90 position.
Computer not at eye level means child's neck is flexed the entire time. Elevate computer so neck is in neutral position.
Slumped position in chair is not good. No support if the chair is too big. It's best when the child's feet is supported, with 2 pillows enough for back support and head in a neutral position.
Alternatives to traditional sitting. Prone (tummy) position is a favorite taht allows for a child to get out of that flexion pattern the chair creates. It is great for providing proprioceptive input and upper body strengthening.
Use a peanut or therapy ball. It is great for kiddos who like to move or when kids start to get restless and tire of sitting still.
Tall-Kneel or Half-Kneel. It is a great way to engage that core.
