2021 NY State Exams

Current Information:

This year, all NYS students from Grades 3-8 must opted in to take the NYS Exams. Students will not be penalized for not taking the state exam. 
 
School Survey about Testing Decision: 
 
Remote Students who opt-into the State Exams:
  • Have your child come into the building on their respective testing date at 8:40am to have the full day available.
  • Remote students can NOT take the state exams at home.
  • Day of Test: please complete this health screening for your child https://healthscreening.schools.nyc/ and have him/her wear a mask to the school building. They are NOT mandated to take a Covid-19 test.
  • Students will go home as soon as they complete the exam. Please plan accordingly so they can have arrangements to go home when they're finished.
 
Exceptions:
If the school building happens to be closed on that date, the state exam will be postponed until further notice. The students will not be take the state exam at home.
 
Grade Promotions:
This year, students will be considered for grade promotion on classwork material and assessments only. This state exam will not be used for grade promotional consideration.
 
8th Grade Considerations: 
In lieu of graduation and high school promotion, 8th graders are also not mandated to take the state exams. 
 
ELA NY State Exam
The ELA NYS Exam testing for Grades 3-8 will begin on Tuesday, April 20th through Thursday, April 29, 2021. This year, the ELA State exam will be one day and multiple choice only.
 
We will begin testing the in-person students Tuesday, April 20th through Thursday, April 22, 2021 during the regular school day. Remote students will begin testing on Friday, April 23rd through Wednesday, April 28, 2021.
 
Thursday, April 29th will be our makeup day. All non-testing students will follow their regular instructional schedule during testing. 
 
Please have your child show up at 8:40am at the day of their test. To plan for when to pick up your child, please view the average testing length for each test and fill out a permission slip ahead of time.
 
In-person Student Testing Dates: 
Grades 3 and 4 – Tuesday, April 20, 2021 
Grades 5 and 6- Wednesday, April 21, 2021
Grades 7 and 8 – Thursday, April 22, 2021
 
Remote Student Testing Dates: 
*remote students must come into the school building to take the exam at these dates for the full day.
Grades 3 and 4 – Friday, April 23, 2021 (Average time 60-70 minutes)
Grades 5 and 6 – Tuesday, April 27,2021 (Average time 80-90 minutes)
Grades 7 and 8 – Wednesday, April 28, 2021 (Average time 80-90 minutes)
 
 

Math NY State Exam

For school year 2020-21 only, the math test will be a one-day, untimed test, containing only multiple-choice questions.
* There will be no state testing on May 13th due to a holiday.
 
In-person Student Testing Dates: 
Grades 3 and 4 – Tuesday, May 4th, 2021 
Grades 5 and 6- Wednesday, May 5th, 2021
Grades 7 and 8 – Thursday, May 6th, 2021
 
Remote Student Testing Dates: 
*remote students must come into the school building to take the exam at these dates for the full day.

Science NY State Exam

More specific information about specific grade schedule to come.
 
Only for Grades 4-8, the school year 2020-21 administration dates are June 7-11. for the Written Test. The Performance Test will not be administered in school year 2020-21.
